Puzzle Report and Other Stuff

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 29, 2008, 8:31 PM
The puzzle arrived!

Sorry to not get back earlier. The puzzle arrived over a week ago, and my 15 year old son and I put it together. I was very pleased with how the colors turned out. It was a bit tricky to put together because a lot of the fractal pattern looked the same. It was mainly a matter of matching colors and texture details. :)

And now to the "other stuff": My hard drive suffered a crash the other day. I had backed up most of my fractal uprs except for the most recent ones. The upr for my last upload is lost.
I can't explain how this hurts. It's almost like losing a piece of myself. I highly recommend that everyone make a good habit of backing up all their uprs on a regular basis and especially after they create something special.

My Gnarly Slope Puzzle is for sale!

I have always been intrigued by the idea of having my fractals made into jigsaw puzzles. I have selected for my first experiment.
I have already ordered one, and I will report back about the results when it arrives. :)

Thank you!!! :D

Wow, what a lovely surprise! I just had my summative conference this morning to start closing the end of the school year. And then I was relaxing this evening by looking at fractal art, only to discover that I have over 300 messages. I thought no, I couldn't have a DD. I haven't posted anything new in a long time. But, sure enough, there it was. :) I couldn't have been more surprised and delighted. I would like to thank :iconsophquest: for selecting
I will be slow in answering all the messages, forgive me. I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. I love this art form and I have been really looking forward to the summer when I will have more time to create new art, and maybe even work on some more tutorials.

Tutorial #3 is Done!!!

I know it's been a long time, but I finally got back to work on the latest tutorial. It has a lot of techniques for fixing problems with fractal images. I have a couple of ideas for the next tutorials. I will make one showing different effects that you can make for your fractal images: shadows, mist, and clouds, ect. I also see the need to do a more detailed tutorial devoted totally to masking. I think I will start working on that one next. I have also added a bit more to my website. I added a little about what a fractal is and made a copyright statement. I will still be adding to it in the near future hopefully. I haven't added anything new to the gallery there in over a year. Here is a link to my website. Please let me know if anything is not working.

On another note, I just accepted a job teaching Biology at a very good local high school. I am so excited and can't wait to get started!! :D

I recieved a wonderful gift subscription to DA from Gary ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Gary! :D
He is the director of the group and does a fantastic job.

I would also like to announce that I have just completed Tutorial #2 on my website. It shows all the steps in creating an abstract fractal with some gradient masking. If anyone finds anything that is unclear or something that doesn't work, please let me know here or use the "Contact the artist" link on the home page of my website. Here is the link:

I also want to mention that I will be hanging out in the UF official Chat room around 9:00pm Central time most evenings if anyone wants to discuss fractal art, share params. :)
