The link to the fractal image is here: [link]
I used the ufm Druid Mset in the mt.ufm folder. I used the switch (F7) to find a nice spiral and then selected Doodads. I changed the gradient to a grayscale in the Standard folder to better explore for the exact shapes that I liked and this is a color gradient that I still use to explore a ucl. If you just turn on my background layer, you will see what I started with. If you go up to the little down arrow and right click on it, you can click on the "reset parameters" icon. Then scroll down the parameter list and right click on the fractal window and select "undo reset parameters". Keep scrolling down and right clicking and redo and undo the reset parameters to see what was changed. You should find that the Trap Mode, Flavor, Flavor Multiplier, and Morph were the only parameters that I changed to get the shapes that I wanted. I duplicated this layer and then I changed the Coloring Mode to Magnitude. I then proceeded to push F7 with the gradient window open until I got a gradient that I liked. I tweaked it until I got the look you see with the the first two layers turned on. I duplicated it and then tried the texture parameters. In the PF Texture Mode, I selected cPatterns 3 and changed the PF amount to 0.3, the PF scale to 16 and the PF Density set to 3. I also changed the Coloring Mode to Iteration. I don't use that Coloring Mode on texture layers as a rule now, but it gave a really nice effect here. I honestly don't remember if I tweaked the gradient or just hit F7 again. The textures for Doodads are really fun to play with and try different combinatios. This was one of the first times I tried textures with Doodads and I didn't really fiddle with many of the texture parameters. There are 3 texture functions and PF offsets, PF modifier, and fuzz factors to explore.
This may look very simple, but I know that I did a lot of tweaking of the gradients, and I moved the opacity slider of the texture layer to get the final version just right. You really have to play with the merge modes and opacity with texture layers. I usually use a grayscale gradient with my texture layers now to ensure that they don't change the colors and blend into my fractal shapes. Enough!
