Puzzle Report and Other Stuff

Sun Jun 29, 2008, 8:31 PM
The puzzle arrived!

Sorry to not get back earlier. The puzzle arrived over a week ago, and my 15 year old son and I put it together. I was very pleased with how the colors turned out. It was a bit tricky to put together because a lot of the fractal pattern looked the same. It was mainly a matter of matching colors and texture details. :)

And now to the "other stuff": My hard drive suffered a crash the other day. I had backed up most of my fractal uprs except for the most recent ones. The upr for my last upload is lost.
I can't explain how this hurts. It's almost like losing a piece of myself. I highly recommend that everyone make a good habit of backing up all their uprs on a regular basis and especially after they create something special.

  • Mood: Sadness
  • Listening to: my fingers typing
  • Reading: my journal
  • Watching: the monitor
  • Playing: nothing
  • Eating: nothing
  • Drinking: nothing

I know I'm very late, but, however wasn't here for a long time. I'm so sorry to hear about your lost, I can imagine how it hurts.
And, like Kat said, Yay for the puzzle. I'm glad to hear you're so pleased with the result.

Hope you're doing fine.

I'm sorry to hear that!! My HDs have been going on a 'I hate my users' rampage...we've formatted about 4 times in the past month to try to get everything back to normal...and every time I lose something else. :tears:

Glad to hear about the puzzle though!! I bet that was a fun one to put together--it sounds like quite the challenge!

Thanks, I have plans to make another puzzle out of "Stone Flowers". I am now thinking that the HD crash was a sign that I needed to do some cleaning and reorganizing. I have many types of backup systems in place now. :)

Thats good! We've finally gotten everything back to normal, and the last time we formatted, we lost everything too...so I'm looking into better back-up systems too, as well as keeping up on the ones I did before better.

Ouch... I know that pain. My drive died a few months ago. I had a backup, but it was about a month old. I lost a new version of one of my screensavers, which I tried to restore from memory, but it was never quite the same. Now I am looking into an external backup drive connected to my wireless router so that we can all back up our machines. But dang, that previous person had a good idea too in hteir comment... remote backup via ftp. Note to self: DO IT.

I now have several backup systems in place. One program that I have set to automatically make a mirror copy of my parameters on a daily basis. So far, it's doing a good job. :)

Well, let's hope you don't have to find out if it works :fingerscrossed:

I recommend one on site backup and one off site back up. For 12 years I wrote everything to cd, then dvd. When we had to evacuate for a wild fire, I was wishing I didn't have to lug that data around, so I got a private web site, and post to it (ftp) just before I shut down for the night. It has saved me once all ready!

Thanks, that is a very good suggestion. I will look into doing just that. I like to have back ups for my back ups. :)
